05- Grumpy Old Bears remember September 11th and respect patriotism

In this brief episode of Grumpy Old Bears, we discuss a couple of items that deliver respected remembrance of the attack by Muslim terrorists on 11 September 2001, as well as the honor given to those who served in the military — as the saying goes, “Thanks for your service.”

For those of us who lived through the experience, we all remember what it was like to hear and see the reports from the disaster of the terrorist attacks of the 11th of September in 2001, when New York and Pennsylvania and the Pentagon suffered from the terrorist hands of radical muslims.

On this twentieth anniversary, all of us at grumpyoldbears.com render a serious homage to those who perished and to their families because of these attacks. In fact, Mr. Bear is not even pouting, but he has his head bowed down to remember the pain and suffering that resulted (yes, he is old enough to remember).

In addition to the remembrance of September 11th of 2001, the Grumpy Old Bears offer respect to the nation and to those who served in the Armed Forces to protect the citizenry and our freedoms.

In fact, one of the Grumpy Old Bears, Sergeant Fred, did serve over 50 years ago in the U.S. Army Airborne Infantry — both in the 82nd Airborne Division stateside, as well as in the 23rd Infantry Division (Americal) as a combat infantryman in the Vietnam War. Yes, the responsibilities of fighting in the jungles, the mountains and the rice paddies in that conflict were very heavy, as you can see for yourself in the photo of his crossing a river in the jungles of Vietnam (photo image taken in 1971 and licensed from gettyimages.com):

US troops of the 23rd (Americal) Infantry Division ford a river about 11 miles west of Chu Lai in South Vietnam (then the Republic of Vietnam, or RVN), 15th August 1971. The GIs, members of Bravo Company, 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry, are among the last U. S. combat troops still operating in the field.

So, thus, we send our acknowledgements to those due, and although he may be a grumpy old bear, he is still very much a patriotic bear.

We hope that we shall see the return of one of our co-hosts, Matt Cox, in the next episode or two. In that way, we can discuss many other items that need grumpiness given to our listeners in discussing various themes. In the meantime, we hope that you, also, commemorate the 11th of September and show respect to those who have given military service to America.

Thank you for your attention.
